• TRILOGY - Three of American author Jackson Gregory’s westerns are in this eBook: The Short Cut, The Desert Valley & Judith of Blue Lake Ranch

The Short Cut (A Western Murder Mystery)
The woman breathed deeply as her dog, Shep, found something in the deep grass and went snarling across the water -- almost under her horse's legs. Not ten steps from the edge of the water her mare's nostrils suddenly quivered and she trembled a moment. So primitive was her urge to flee from death, she could not get closer to the spot where a man lay dead in the sunshine.

The Desert Valley
Over many wide regions of the south-western desert country of Arizona and New Mexico lies an eternal spell of silence and mystery. It was in this setting that Helen and her father rode their horses and prepared to set up camp. Unfortunately, they were not alone. A man already occupied their spot, a man who gave the impression that his desire was for secrecy. Intrepidly, Helen’s father walked toward the man, warning Helen to stay close by his side.

Judith of Blue Lake Ranch (1919)
Bud Lee, horse foreman of the Blue Lake Ranch, was even more serious than usual when the telegram arrived. It seemed that even though the Blue Lake Ranch was a million-dollar outfit; it was short of cash. Worse, the men were now reporting to a woman they referred to as the "girl!" Every two weeks she was demanding a report, eternally butting in and making suggestions. Bud Lee resolved to see just what he could do about that little woman and her big ideas.
