Research shows that girls as young as three years old “are already emotionally invested in being thin,” and some are dieting by the age of six (Live Science, November 16, 2010). • Over 12 million women are diagnosed with depression each year, and nearly 13 million women with an anxiety, and married women with children have higher rates of depression and anxiety than married women without children. These rates increase as the number of children in the home increases.
