Howard Pyle (Mar 5, 1853 – Nov 9, 1911) was an American illustrator and author. In 1894 he began teaching illustration at the Drexel Institute. On the verge of twentieth century, he has founded his own school of art. His classic publication of The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood remains in print up to date due to its popularity. He published his first novel, Otto of the Silver Hand, in 1888. He also illustrated historical and adventure stories for papers and magazines.
The Ruby of Kishmoor is an adventure novel by Howard Pyle, included in the Book of Pirates. The narrative follows Johnathan Rugg and his adventures. One day he met a mysterious woman, whose face was covered by a silver veil.  She gave a strange sphere with enigmatic symbols all over it, and thus Jonathan’s voyage had begun.
