The Reluctant Heartbreaker

Ethan knew he was gay when, as a sophomore in high school, he fell in love with straight, unattainable Hank, a senior and captain of the football team. He came out in college. The two men he dated each fell in love with him. Breaking up with each of them was painful.

Over the next ten years Ethan had two serious relationships, first with Krushan and then with Michael. Ethan and Michael were together for six years. Both Krushan and Michael fell in love with him. Ethan thought he loved them but eventually realized he did not. Breaking up with them, particularly Michael, was so painful Ethan decided to give up on love, contenting himself with one night stands. Living in San Francisco, Ethan had no trouble finding partners for a night, but that wasn’t what he wanted. He was unhappy but didn’t know how to change it.

Then, unexpectedly, Ethan inherited his grandfather’s house in a small Indiana town, and everything changed.
