By definition, a statute of limitations is: a law that bars a claim after a specified period; a statute establishing a time limit based on the date when the claim accrued.
In relationships, a statue of limitations is: a rule that bars a complaint about a hurtful event or injury after a certain amount of time; a rule that gives the "hurtee" a reasonable amount of time to discover the hurtful event before the "hurter" can no longer be scolded.
Every relationship has ups and downs, sometimes lefts and rights too, but the experts all agree that communication is the key to every healthy relationship. By bringing up hurtful events or arguments from the past, you can hinder communication and sometimes cause the end of the relationship. While both sexes are guilty of the statute "red flag", typically women use this the most as statistically men have the memories, attention spans, and emotional depth of a field mouse. This article is written from the male perspective but contains enlightening information that both sexes can learn from.
Everyone fights, no relationship is perfect, but if you're going to argue and fight, do it fairly and respectfully so the making up can begin.
