When the King dies, everyone is in mourning. Well, almost everyone. The Queen is actually delighted and overjoyed at hearing the wonderful news. Her joy is short lived, however, when the Duke reveals his secret - the king had an illegitimate son 18 years ago.
In a fit of panic, the Queen dispatches her assassins to deal with the situation. Fortunately, the boy has two things in his favor; first, the assassins are incompetent, and second, he is taken under the wing of the Black Knight - who just so happens to have returned from the Crusades. So begins a wild roller coaster ride as the bungling assassins set off on one death mission after another, but as hard as they try, they fail to hit their mark.
With a few outlaws and an incomprehensible French messenger, the story reaches a chaotic climax when all come together, resulting in death - for someone, at least.
The Peasant King is a wild, hilarious adventure, laced with copious amounts of British style humor that provides a different perspective of life in the Olde World.
