This short-story tells what appears to be something that happened in the past. It evolves around one single guy who is seen through the narrator's eyes. The narrator is in the picture but nobody knows what he looks like physically; from time to time we have a description on how he thinks and what his life was and his story.
This book talks about how you feel strongly about someone even though you don't know them.
It's a simple plot — there is one guy who fantasies on someone else and he does't know how to approach this person. He is not looking for anything but someone who he can connect and have a real relationship with; but he'll see that love isn't that easy, sometimes you get to make sacrifices and some other times you just need to let go. The narrator shares his thought on what happened a while ago without really getting into any details whatsoever. It doesn't seem to be real; as if everything he was writing was just a dream and all he wants is wake up or just stay there forever— we aren't really sure about that; because living a life where you don't know anybody and where you feel like you don't belong is not a place where you can live.
The narrator shows in his own way how fancy can become tragic and heartbroken; he also writes about how a-nobody just ends up finding someone exactly like him and how it drastically changes both their lives.
It's not about having sex nor being like everyone, it's about surviving; surviving in a world where you don't know your place anymore because you feel lost, and finding someone who shares those same thoughts actually helps you be who you want to be, with someone by your side. But how far are we willing to go to get to that point and see that all we have to do is to just be honest and have a little faith in the other one?
Love isn't tragic; what is though is the human race for feeling like it deserves it; it's not a necessity and I think that the author wrote this story because he wanted to make a point — that wanting someone is the goal; not to have them, because what drives us isn't what we have but what we want. The thrill of the chase and the consuming feeling we have when we see this very person; that's what's important; that's all we will ever want.
