Many of the poems in this book are scenes captured from everyday life that moved me in ways I cannot explain, but simply try to show. Like short, short, short stories. Sometimes we all see things in passing that have some meaning we cannot quite grasp. Driving a car, we see something out of the window—a man watching a woman looking at something in the distance. Perhaps a flock of birds. Or somebody saying goodbye for the last time. We can't explain to anyone else the importance of these scenes, so we don't mention them and soon forget. I believe it is the poet's responsibility to capture the poignancy of some of these moments in word pictures, so they all don't become like shooting stars that go unseen and are lost from our collective human experience.
