Something inside her, a sixth sense maybe, told Lyla not to go any further. She stood right where she was and tried to listen hard. 

"I'm telling you this is not the time!" Danielle seemed to be arguing with someone. 
"I know I said that but don't you see how things have turned out!" 
"No! No! I never meant it to be this bad." 
"Don't you hear me? You will get what I promised to you. Just not straight away. Be patient. I am not running away." 

Lyla turned around and almost ran the way she had come.
