Linda Laakenworth obsessed with beauty lay in her tear soak bed watching the wind struggle to force the sun through her barely open window and heavy curtains. Each breath the wind blew, the curtains slightly parted and a single ray of sun forced it's way through the barely opened window and heavy curtains, but couldn't remain long enough to brighten the deliberately darken room. Vanity and envy caused Linda to make a disastrous act of aggression that back fired in her face, leaving her beauty and will to live grossly scared. She seeks a way to end the pain from her scars and her foolishness, and nearly succeeds in her own demise, when the very person her aggression was targeted, Jackson Dillard an inner-city paraplegic, rescues Linda from self destruction. Just like for himself Jackson realizes it is not so easy to help someone back into society.
