The author of King of a Small World delivers a noir thriller of a racially fraught murder that could tear Washington, DC, apart.

PI Kevin Kellogg has been in DC long enough to not be shocked by the brutal murder of a prominent black prosecutor. What does surprise him is that the leader of the white supremacist group suspected of the crime wants to hire him to find the real killer.

Just out of prison, the murdered prosecutor’s brother, Long, decides to find justice his own way. He turns to an ex-con buddy, the Farrakhan-like leader of a local black power group, for help.

Both investigations soon leave behind the crime-ridden streets of the city and turn to the upper echelons of power, where greed trumps morality. There are whispers of a missing video, once in the prosecutor’s possession, that could have far-reaching implications. And the prosecutor’s son, who has also disappeared, may have witnessed the murder. Two fuses have been lit that could ignite an explosion of scandal and corruption in a city already on the edge of violence . . .

Praise for Rick Bennet’s King of a Small World:

“That rare thing, a truly authentic novel about poker and the poker world.” —A. Alvarez, author of The Biggest Game in Town

“An immensely enjoyable debut.” —Publishers Weekly

“Many readers consider . . . King of a Small World to be the best of its kind—a poker-themed novel that offers an authentic, gritty portrait of ‘the live grind.’” —PokerNews.com
