This is a true story, my story about pioneering in Northern Saskatchewan as seen through the eyes of a boy. Although it occurred many years after most of the province’s farms had open fields, roads and electricity, it still took the same effort to succeed as it did many years earlier. As the story moves forward, the boy becomes a young man shaped by community, friends, parents and growing up on his Dad’s right arm.
A central figure in the story is Baldy, a beautiful horse that looked more like a pony due to his cross breeding between a Shetland pony and a Clydesdale work horse. Every event involving Baldy usually turned out to be an adventure due mainly to his exceptional courage and intelligence. This story is enjoyed by children who love animals and adults who fondly recall their own pioneering memories.
