Welcome to the Kingdom of Sagely!

In this diverse, medieval land, two nations have been at war for eighteen years now. The Southern Continent, home to the peaceful and prosperous mammalian races, has been devastated by the Tyrannights, a cold-blooded army of reptilian beasts who are led by the evil dragon Leixley Drake-Andillion.

Leixley has believed himself to be the sole survivor of the heath dragons for over two decades, and he seeks revenge on the Kingdom of Sagely for the sudden and cataclysmic extinction of his kind. But his plans to exterminate the warm-blooded people have found resistance in the renowned Knights of Sagely and their newest member, Zenkar.

Zenkar is no ordinary mammal and certainly no ordinary knight, but ordinary is all the reluctant young hero wants to be. He is the emissary of the Hero Spirit, a mortal who channels the arcane energy of one hundred heroes of the past. Torn between a spiritual gateway, an ethereal realm known as Ice Glade, and the beloved corporeal world he has sworn to protect, he wants nothing more than to fit in with the residents of Vairan Castle and enjoy his new life. He is still struggling to understand his gift but he has taken the time to learn some valuable life lessons, make some good friends and fall head-over-heels for Princess Kirei.

Peacetime celebrations are well under way when a mysterious stranger arrives in the Kingdom of Sagely, bringing with her a sobering forecast. The heath dragoness Tarielle Kalosaur has been tasked with fulfilling an ancient dragonkind prophecy to collect the five sacred Draken Tomes and return the Dragon Gods to power, but a turbulent past has left her unwilling to conform to what she considers a nonsense prediction. She turns her back on the will of her ancestors and seeks out the Sagely knights for help in destroying the Draken Tomes, but Zenkar is not the only one who has trouble trusting her.

But trust her he must, as they set out on an epic quest to find the five Draken Tomes before Leixley does. In this first adventure of five books, Zenkar and his friends delve underground in search of the highly territorial and venomous teres dragons. In the suffocating bowels of the planet, the Sagely Knights must face dangers far worse than deadly beasts and blinding darkness, all the while evading the relentless pursuit of their reptilian enemies.

Suddenly the war between mammal and reptile seems like petty history, and there is far more at stake than their own survival.
