It is generally never pleasant to be unemployed, but it is not all doom and gloom. There is plenty that you can get on with. Don’t focus on what you don’t have, focus on what you can do to move forward in getting back into employment and enjoying what you now have. There is more to life than working and being unemployed is a time to experience other aspects of your life, as well as doing things to change your status.
I work in construction and being off hired is part and parcel of the industry. Therefore I am speaking from a point of experience and I want to pass on my positive experiences to you. I did not waste too much time feeling sorry for myself when I got laid off. I took a little time off to recharge my batteries and then I was back into action.
From my experiences, the chapter headings in this book will give you some clues on where I am coming from and what I did to turn around my situation without feeling sad or moping around. The chapter headings are:
