A junction erupts between the worlds in Settler, Oregon, a rift from which horrors attack our world. The Rifters defend us.

To trust unquestioningly is the first lesson Daelin Long must learn as the newest Initiate of the Rifters.

Her first day is a disaster. She stands on a deserted street in a town smaller than a city district, courting killer rocks from another world with her ancestor from the Revolutionary War. Normal no longer exists.

While she struggles, Earl Blacke grapples with atoning for his past ill deeds, running far and fast from Settler, Oregon. The Shaman of the Desert promises him redemption, and an old mine puts the possibility of a gold strike in his grasp. His luck has changed for the better, but he can’t have both.

Shelley A. Needham: "The whole portal to other dimensions in time and space has been done before, but this is an interesting, fresh approach. The townspeople are quirky, the things coming through the rift are unbelievable, and so is working with a ghost, but that is what makes it fun. I was caught up in Daelin's world gone suddenly very weird, and I enjoyed seeing how she handled the situations that were thrown at her, and how her relationship with the other characters grew. An added bonus was the depth of insight that Earl encountered in the character Gussie on his desert trek to find himself. This book also resolved some of the questions I had after reading the first in the series. I will be reading the next one."

Peggy Bechko: "The Rift opens again in Settler and strangeness abounds. The action takes hold from the very beginning and doesn't slacken until the end. Daelin on a quest to reunite with her sister, adventure as Earl tries to find himself and finds someone else, Terror when killer lava bees invade Settler from the rift and quirky people ally themselves with ghosts. There are more dimensions out there than can be dreamed of. A great read. I'm already waiting for #3 in this series."
