When Tanning Masters is taken in by Sir Wilfred Masters, he is trained to be a business accountant in England—but a grand adventure awaits him far beyond England’s shores. As Tan grows up, he is sent first to France, and then to a remote trading post in Rupert’s Land to work for the Hudson’s Bay Company. In the rough Canadian West, Tan’s skills as a gunsmith and blacksmith prove useful. However, when his old enemy arrives and begins pillaging the land, Tan quickly finds himself in a precarious position—and on the run from a dangerous criminal.

After a harrowing accident leaves him stranded, Tan finds a place where he can build his life anew. But will his enemy find him again? How will Tan obtain his inheritance and cause it to increase?
