John Francis Campbell was a Scottish author, mostly known as a collector of folklore. 
 “The Inheritance” is a Scottish fairy tale, entered in the “Popular Tales of the West Highlands” collection. The narration is about one successful farmer, who has three sons. On the bed of death the farmer says them, that in a certain drawer, in a dresser in the inner chamber the sons will find a sum of gold. Let they divide it fairly and honestly, work the farm, and live together in peace. After the father’s death, the sons go to the drawer, and pulled it out they discover that there is nothing in it. The old farmer invented the cunning to define the most worthy of his sons. Read the story to know, who will receive the inheritance.
