"Eduard Butenko works at the juncture of acting analytics and the psychology of art (including the art of creation, art as a process). This is a promising trend in the science of the theater today, and I am happy to recommend his book to the readers.

The author uses the term “imitation” rather conventionally, if not provocatively. His approach is finer, more differentiated in fact (it is not accidental that he speaks of “thoughtless” and “real” imitation). This is a sign of an integral ramified system. The author leads the actor from the vagueness of what may be called a fore-image or proto-image bearing on the subconscious to the image and further, up to the activation of fantasy with a special, directed and selective logic."
