—How long have you been dreaming of her?
—Since I have had the use of reason.
—Do you mean…
—Yes, I mean for more than a thousand years

In Book II of the series The Guide of Time, Alexander struggles to understand the feelings Ariane produces in him. Her face has shown up in his dreams throughout all his long existence, but he always considered her as a subconscious representation of the purity human spirit can achieve. Now that he has to face the real woman, he is lost.

At the same time, Alexander has to fulfil his last mission on Earth. After a long journey inspiring ideas to improve mankind's understanding of science, he has to ensure the success of a breakthrough discovery that could have extraordinary implications for life as we know it. But his enemies are prepared to do anything to stop him. Zardoff, Alexander's nemesis, uses his influence on powerful leaders to create havoc around the world: terrorists acts, epidemics, racism and xenophobia are increasing whilst the environment is being destroyed.

What neither Alexander nor Zardoff understand is that Ariane holds the secret for things to change. Book II ends with Alexander revealing to Ariane his story, the story of The Guide of Time. .
