The Genesis is such a special collection because from the moment that our Poet penned his first poem, Realization, Mekael came to understand what his lifes purpose and gift was. His purpose, to help save and change the lives of todays youth, by use of his gift as a writer. When asked to summarize his collection, Mekael stated strongly, "My mission is to affect the rate of illiteracy in our country and in order to do that, we must affect change in our children, bolstering in them a love for reading, which will positively affect their ability to write. I want our young people to know and understand that reading and writing doesnt deduct from their ability to be cool, but rather, it enhances their ability to re-define the term cool." When asked about the level of dedication and attention to detail that the production process requires, Mekael stated the following. "As I started the process of choosing and compiling the pieces that would ultimately comprise this collection, I was both proud and amazed to see and count that I had created nearly 600 poems up to that point. This undoubtedly made the pre-production process slightly taxing because I had to force myself to choose 80 pieces of poetry that would best define me as a writer and me as an artist and so, I prayed about it and simply, chose."The Genesis will strongly impact some because of the poignancy of the some of the subject matter contained within some of the pieces. This collection will also generate some strong dialog and discussion for change and creativity.
