Ben DeCastro is a professional photographer who spends most of his time in Seagull Beach shooting photos of beautiful people for the covers of romance novels. The rest of the time, he’s stuck babysitting his sister’s cat and working as a volunteer firefighter.
On weekends, he drives his vintage MGB in sports car rallies. Life is good. Ben is doing what he loves until he discovers a rally car abandoned in the California desert. The driver and navigator are missing and a frantic search ensues.
When the authorities impound the car, they discover a headless corpse in the trunk. As a firefighter, Ben joins in the search for the missing crew.
His life veers drastically off course when his own car is stolen and fingerprints of the missing drivers are found on his garage door. The FBI looks at Ben as a suspect. This doesn’t do anything good for his professional reputation, and it cramps his dating efforts with the women in his building.
An assortment of friends and neighbors try to help him with his circumstances, but cause more problems in the process.
Where are the missing drivers? Why is there a dead body in the trunk? How did their fingerprints get on his garage in Seagull Beach? Ben was minding his own business. How could this happen?
