Calladhor, The Lord Guardian of the Light, and his companion, the Warrior maid, Artanis Seregon have reached a distant Realm in Astalan inhabited by Warrior women. Males are not permitted to reside in their culture. The Darklings have never invaded this Realm. The Tyrant's taste is for females who are submissive... not a trait evident in the Warrior Women.
In their Citadel at the Stronghold of Ardenrhyne, he attempts to ally them, but his request is rebuffed by the Warrior Womens' Council... even though their leader... the Throng Mistress, Segartis is sympathetic to his cause.
Eventually; as a result of one more Darkling atrocity; the Warrior Women join forces with Calladhor and Artanis, and annihilate the Tyrant's forces. Now the path is open for Calladhor to seek the key to the riddle which will release the Dragons of Storien-Rhudd from the scourge of the "The Dread Imposition" and allow them to regain their true form.
When it is eventually discovered; it becomes clear that it is, in fact, a riddle within a riddle, and can only be unlocked back at the Dragon Eyrie of Storien-Rhudd in the west.
