Dr. Andrew Phipps is seemingly a staid widowed professor of anthropolgy teaching at Berkeley...but there’s much more to the good doctor than his scholarly appearance would suggest. He’s never had to doubt his daughter Lenore’s continued loyalty until fellow anthropologist Wes Carter comes along. Enter mysterious antiquities dealer Artie Bey who has offered to finance Phipps’ next dig, and things soon turn deadly. After Artie fails to return from a Christmas holiday and Wes decides to return to his home in Louisville, Phipps and Lenore prepare to continue their work alone.
