My book is a Fictional story.

In the book Expedition that I wrote a team of 10 explorers and their pilot named Pat. They all had a dream of going to the Marshall Islands. When they found out that a pilot was in town wanting a team of dedicated men to be part of his team to go to the Marshall Islands, they immediately jumped on the opportunity. This is now where the story begins.

The group sets off on the journey in their DC-3 Goony Bird, leaving LaGuardia International Airport. As in any survival story, along the way the team runs into repeated problem. Thus including fuel, landing, and other issues, as they track their way across the country, and then across the mighty Pacific Ocean. They then land at Honolulu International Airport in Hawaii. They then travel to Kritimata Island. Soon after landing and taking off again they run into more trouble.

A swarm of Japanese planes heading toward the Philippines run strait into the team. Three Japanese plane circle and soon shot down the DC-3. Lucky for the team they are able to find an Island to crash land on. After a successful crash landing Pat finds on his map that they have indeed arrived at their destination of the Marshall Islands. The only catch is that they are on the wrong Island and without any means of transportation out of the Island.

For the next few days the explorers battle the elements on the island with no food or communication. After a while Pat was able to fix the radio and radio a boating company in Australia to pick them up. After another couple days the boat finally arrived and the Explorers were saved. They were brought back to Australia where they then were flown back to the United Stated and to their families.

When they finally arrived the plane took them to an unexpected destination The Whitehouse. The President had ordered a ceremony for the bravery of survival of these 11 men. All of them were awarded the Silver Star and then in the morning departed ways and went back to their home towns and to their families.

The setting of the expedition is in post WW2 in 1947. In August. The book does jump around a bit stating that the Japanese were attacking the Philippines. That was incorrect for the time period.

The main characters are the 10 explorers and Pat. None of them are related. The 10 explorers are all from New York. Pat is from Michigan.
