THE EGYPTIAN ARCH-GNOSIS 4 'What is the aim of the process of soul-rebirth? Surely it is to bring your self into a condition in which your whole being is capable of meeting and receiving God himself, the Spirit itself; only then will you become a true human being.' In volume 4 of The Egyptian Arch-Gnosis and lts Call in the Etemal Present, Jan van Rijckenborgh (1896-1968) completes his series of explanations of the Corpus Hermeticum of Hermes Trismegistus. These explanations were first given in the form of talks to pupils of the School of the Golden Rosycross in the Netherlands, during the 1950s. Van Rijckenborgh's aim was to provide modern seekers with a new, accessible rendering of Hermes' ancient message of liberation, combined with explana-tions of the teat which clearly reveal its intensely practical impli-cations. The result is a set of wonderfully clear instructions for seekers who are struggling to free themselves from the delusions of the ego, and to live life as it is meant to be lived. In this volume, books 13 to 17 of the Corpus Hermeticum are explained. They deal mainly with the process of 'soul rebirth' and how, through it, the divine consciousness can be attained. Van Rijckenborgh explains precisely what we need to do if we wish to cooperate in this process, leaving us in no doubt that the true, divine consciousness is indeed within reach, and not at all an unattainable ideal. In the midst of the ever-growing chaos and confusion of our times, such a message is desperately needed, and it was the author's loving hope that it would reach many, many people throughout the world.
