This is a memoir of my career written from a peculiar point of view, indicated by the title.
During my teaching career, I was a teacher of the Greek and Latin classics and also a teacher of classical Greek philosophy, particularly that of Plato. The memoir is basically the story of taking on three somewhat quixotic quests as a teacher of philosophy, as a teacher of Latin poetry, and as a teacher per se. This last quest, though obviously begun during my career, was only completed over a decade into my retirement.
