The Crying Came From The Trees

During World War II, Gretchen Neumann, a ten year old girl in Bavaria Germany, takes part in a horrific event that occurs after the bombing of her small hometown.  And though the war is over, she is unable to shed herself of the demons that haunt her, the images, smells, and the realities of war that follow her overseas to live in the very country that brought so much harm to her homeland, family, and to her.  But living in a small country town in upstate New York fails to free her of the past, because the past has followed her—has always been with her and even lived within her.  And then when the years of her life have seemingly outrun what torments her, it comes back to even the score.
