The year is 1880 and orphaned Modena decides to become a Mail Order Bride.

Modena Montgomery was placed at Woodcroft Manor at the age of fourteen and at twenty-one she was ready to leave the manor and become a bride. Her destination was Helena Montana where she was to become the bride of Jefferson Stephens Cole. Cole was a bit older than many of the men seeking a bride yet there was something about him that made him Lovisa’s choice for Modena.

Her train ride enabled her to meet a young couple Seth and Maggie Morgan. Just a normal newlywed couple who were on their way to visit Seth’s sister who was expecting a baby. Little did she know that Seth was hired to kill Jefferson by his own attorney and best friend, Arthur Washburn. It seems Arthur was making a small fortune drawing up wills for various clients over the years and cashing in on their estates. When Jefferson asked to have his will changed making Modena his sole heir Arthur decided he had to make sure that marriage should never take place and hired Seth. A change of heart and Maggie’s pleading not to mention he had become fond of Modena made Seth to back out of his job and forces Arthur to take matters into his own hands. On the day of Jefferson’s wedding Arthur confronts him and somebody gets killed.
