When the star of Edric Davies basketball team succumbs to injury, he steps up to save the day. Suddenly, Edric has the world at his fingertips; fame, popularity, even the girl. But, for a poor kid in a rich town, that just isn't how it works. In Mount Collier, kids like Edric can't have it all. He is soon betrayed, condemned to a life in Shatterly's Obedience and Drill Fraternity, the state's harshest military school.
