What can be told about freedom? And about whose freedom I'm going to discuss? About freedom of one man or whole nation? This word carries in itself so much hidden meanings, that I'll make attempt to replace it "Independence" word. There are words which lose their truth value due to oft-repeated: "God", "Love",...Independence.
French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry had the right to write his memoirs about ... Independence. He was not just a military pilot. He made sorties from the state, which has suffered a catastrophic military defeat. Every day he flies to meet his death: "For three weeks of twenty-three crews we lost seventeen. We melted like a candle ..." wrote Saint-Exupéry in his book "Flight to Arras". Psychologically broken by defeat of his country, the author reflects on why his nation lost independence. Why two millionth army failed to win the aggressor? What sense was in the death of his friends and comrades? Saint-Exupery was able to find hope for salvation in the memories of his childhood. His children's spontaneity and freedom helped him get out of his deep depression.
July 31, 1944 Saint-Exupéry did not return from a mission. German pilot who stopped the life of the writer admitted: "If I had known that it was Exupéry, I would have never hit him, never ...".
Artists paint a portrait of the hero, sculptors sculpt bas-reliefs in their honor, I decided to write a play and fourteen paintings, which, in my opinion, expressing basic human concepts. Among them are: "Anxiety", "Sense of duty", "Fantasy", "Creation", "Slavery", but no pictures of love and freedom ... Maybe if you put them together, well, all these fourteen already drawn ... , the "Independence" which is impossible to draw, will be half a step closer.
