If you feel confused by the chronological order of the latest episodes of the Adventures of the Audrey Eleanor, you should be. Quite frankly I left the “rat” episodes until last because I struggle with the nightmare of them still. This was not the summer that we envisioned; it was a fight from the start.

We left Audrey in Campbell River for a month while we went to a family reunion and had a visit with THE Audrey Eleanor Cousins who our ship is named after, she turned 85 this year. We returned to Canada and attempted to resume our summer holiday. Two days after we cast off lines in Campbell River we were hit at Cameron Island in Nanaimo by the Robert S, a 1942 ex- gunboat.

There weren’t a lot of pleasurable times onboard between the rats and repairs. People keep life interesting though; they are the actual joy between the agonies. They are what made this summer worthwhile.
