Kyle James, the lead character, has no hearing in his left ear due to a childhood illness. He is determined to restore lost hearing and provide himself with an internal smart phone in the process. He and a partner work out the critical technology, a method of connecting a computer to the human nervous system. Coincidentally, his favorite university professor, Dr. Monroe, uses software that Kyle developed to create a sentient computer program.
An enemy from the past, Dr. Waters, creates mischief by hijacking Kyle's technology. In order to save a life, Kyle and Dr. Monroe use the method of connecting a computer to the nervous system and the sentient program that was modeled after Dr. Monroe's wife, to implant a computer hosting the sentient program into a comatose body.
The implant works beyond their wildest dreams and convincingly mimics a woman. The resulting hybrid person cleverly goes about fulfilling its prime directive, which is to make Kyle and Dr. Monroe happy.
