Ex-news cameraman, Steve Saunders, is repatriated back to Australia suffering from Post Trauma Stress caused by wounds he suffered in his last assignment and the horrors he witnessed whilst covering the closing stages of the Vietnam War. The final terrifying incident which tipped him over the edge and lodged itself in the depths of his subconscious has caused ongoing and frightening subliminal flashes of the experience, haunting his nightmares and threatening his recovery. He becomes unwittingly caught up in a sophisticated people-smuggling racket through his involvement with, Tan, the young Vietnamese lad who saved his life back in Vietnam and subsequently became one of the first boat people to arrive in Australia in the late seventies. Unbeknown to Tan, his elderly parents in Vietnam decide to immigrate to Australia as illegal refugees and become victims of a brutal, cruel deception. Steve, his girlfriend, Sally, and Tan, become embroiled in a deadly battle to expose the organisation to the authorities endangering Steve's tenuous recovery and risking the lives of the people he loves. Faced with corruption and action packed danger, the shattering secret of The Burning Boy is finally revealed.
