Emily Shields is astonished at the elegance of her new job, dictating a gothic novel for a wealthy, famous recluse known as Damian Corinth. What she didn’t expect was that her stern, handsome new boss would turn out to be a centuries-old vampire!
Before there's time for second thoughts about the intimidating, supernatural man, Damian has her caught up in his seductive web, introducing her to the pleasures of the night in his unique approach to on-the-job training.

“I swear I won’t harm you, Emily,” he whispered close to her ear, his voice low and hypnotic, “I just want you to understand as to why I’m so incredibly passionate about my book.”
“No, really?” Emily rolled her eyes heavenward, laughing nervously. His body was hard and muscled, but strangely cool. Her skin hummed with the electricity from his closeness. “Hadn’t noticed. Not in the slightest.”
Damian's small smile widened impressively, revealing for the first time his long canine teeth. She realized that perhaps there was a reason he didn’t smile often.
“I want my readers to understand the true nature of the vampire,” his voice was low and hypnotic. “We are passionate creatures. Calculating. Intelligent. Eternal. And I want you to know as well, Emily.”
His astounded visitor bit her lip, her heart pounding in her ears as she shuffled her feet beneath her. She was trying to process what was happening. Was she in danger? It didn’t feel like it. The way he was looking at her was only filling her with a sense of excitement, not fear.
“Well I’ll be sure and buy the book whenever it’s released,” she whispered.
“Forget about the blasted book.”
Strong hands cradled her closer as he swept her off her feet, literally, lifted her off the floor as he flew her slow and smooth across the room.
He set her gently into the velvety depths of his signature coffin. She inhaled the clean wood scent as she sank into the surprisingly comfortable, cool fabric. Damian gripped the sides of the coffin over her and moved over top of her, staring deep into her eyes as he sat up in the coffin and straddled her hips with his. She had never been so caught up in a moment. Between the beautiful manor, the gorgeous man, his intoxicating presence, and the hours she’d spent listening to his enthralling story.
“You are a good assistant, Emily. You are highly qualified, and you... have spirit. I want you to finish this project with me,” he growled, stripping off his velvet smoking jacket as he spoke to reveal a massive muscled chest and divine washboard abs. Emily gasped in shock and delight. “And if you are to understand my world, I should take more care to introduce you to it.”
