ABOUT THE BOOK

Comedy clubs are great, and TV is nice to veg out to, but for something funny and original from your favorite SNL celebrity, Twitter may be one of the best places to find a quick, good laugh. Mike Meyers and Molly Shannon have yet to jump on the bandwagon, but some of our favorite past and present SNL cast members have begun to use technology to their advantage.

Many of them, like former SNL “featured player” cast members Sarah Silverman and Jenny Slate, and current “repertory player” cast member Seth Meyers, write so many hysterical tweets, its like opening their joke notebook or peeking in their journal. They talk about what annoys them, what is absurd about our everyday lives and what very typical things they do each day. They comment on everything from waiting in line at the coffee shop to the sounds their farts make.

It’s great entertainment, and it’s clear that these talented comedians are not just funny on TV.

Here are 100 of our favorite tweets from verified present and former Saturday Night Live cast members.

MEET THE AUTHOR

Elizabeth Giuffre is a writer and mosaic artist. She lives in Santa Cruz, California with her husband and three sons, but pretends she lives in Tuscany.

Tweets about RELIGION

Nothing can top Sarah Silverman’s blasphemous rumors. For the most irreverent of tweets, her Twitter bank is the spot to place your laugh account. If you’re following SNL tweets, you probably already know how to laugh at religion.

Let's get into the Christmas Spirit & lie about how we got pregnant. [Sarah Silverman 11/26/11]

No matter your politics, I think we can all agree that Mormons tan well. [Seth Meyers 9/7/11]

Did you know, when it's sunny but still raining, it means the devil is beating his wife? [Jon Lovitz 3/25/11]

Atheists are just agnostics w chips on their shoulders. Goodnight Sweetie. [Sarah Silverman 11/12/11]
