This Halcyon Classics ebook is F. Scott Fitzgerald's Jazz Age Classic THE BEAUTIFUL AND DAMNED.  The novel tells the story of Anthony Patch, a young presumptive heir to a fortune and his relationship with his wife Gloria.  Patch serves in the army and struggles with alcoholism as he seeks a greater meaning to his life. The novel provides an excellent portrait of the Eastern elite during the 1920s.

Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (1896-1940) was an American author of novels and short stories. He is widely regarded as one of the "Lost Generation's" greatest writers. He finished four novels and wrote many short stories replete with themes of youth and promise along with despair and age.  A chronic alcoholic, Fitzgerald suffered a massive heart attack and passed away in 1940.
