One of the Feminist Press's classic bestsellers, the stories in the original Tatterhood continue to organically generate readership and press. It is ranked #4 on Amazon for its specific category, was the subject of an 2015 op-ed in Cicada magazine, and generally remains a highly recognizable and cited title for feminist children's anthologies. The original anthology, published in 1978, has sold over 80,000 copies, and has been translated into multiple languages.

This series is ideal for progressive parents interested in sharing nonsexist folklore with their children. There are a few similar collections of girl-centered folk stories, but none published in the last 10+ years.

This new edition of Tatterhood will feature new illustrations throughout the four-volume series, all from the same illustrator and with similar book design to tie the volumes together. Each volume will also be introduced by a prominent contemporary children's/YA author, speaking to the importance of progressive children's literature.

All titles in the series will be leveled for the Common Core curriculum, and will include the Common Core logo on the back cover to publicize this fact.
