“The Resurrection” is the introductory installment of the “Talitha’s Journeys” sagas, featuring a spiritually anointed woman of color, called “Asaa” because she is blessed with the power of healing: spiritually, mentally, and physically. However somewhere along her journey, she has lost her memory.
Her dramatic life story begins to unfold far from her birthplace, in Detroit, Michigan. A traumatic altercation with officers of the law, unchains within her mind a series of startling and painful visions. However she can't say with certainty if her “visions” are fact or fiction. Perhaps they are “past-life” memories, actual memories from her past, or lunacy? These vivid and jarring recollections cause not only her to question her sanity, but those around her have doubts also.
An encounter with Iras, a young video documentarian, is the catalyst that steers her life on the road to recovery and well-being. Iras is an ambitious privileged young urbanite on a mission to “give back to the community” by championing for the plight of inner city homeless women. With her camera in hand, she has begun filming on a project she calls “The Nuevo Nomads: A documentary on Homeless Women living in the Urban Wilderness.”
By happenstance, Asaa and Iras, are thrown together. They seem to be total opposites, one rich and the other poor, but their lives begin intertwining as the secrets of their pasts are brought to light, setting them both on an unforgettable journey of healing.
In helping Asaa, Iras discovers herself, learning that stepping away from the confines of her sheltered lifestyle, might lead to love and romance. When Brandon Asque, the handsome self-made media mogul, steps into her life, Iras is given a reality check. He is a grown man who wants “a woman, not a spoiled little girl!” On the other hand, Luthor Shepard, a working man and life long “friend” accepts Iras “as-is.” His ambitions run high, one day he hopes to have Iras as his wife.
With the help of an elderly blind woman, Asaa reconnects with her true self. She rediscovers her special gifts and powers, allowing her to overcome the life-altering physical and mental events in her past, including: female circumcision, slavery, voodoo, childbirth, adultery, revenge, mental illness, kidnapping and homelessness. Asaa, must then also come to terms with the men in her past, from a philandering ex-husband with a secret to a flamboyant billionaire, blackmailing her in exchange for her special “gift of healing”
Going forward, Asaa must overcome the issues of her long past in order to take hold of her blessed future journeys.
