When you lose someone you love to suicide, nothing makes sense. After I lost my husband in 2006, I searched for answers, for reasons, for meaning and found nothing but a dark empty room out of which I had to find my own way. During that time I looked for simple truths in poetry - some dark, some angry, some hopeful, some desperate - all very real.

This collection of poetry is a journal of my passage through the deep valley of grief. It is also a reflection of my very difficult struggle to embrace the future and allow myself to live and love happily, again. It is a message of darkness and light, of hope and hopelessness.

Not unlike the butterfly, it is a story of rebirth. If you've lost someone to suicide, I hope you'll find some truth here along your journey home.
