A three-mile wide spinning, twisting, spitting rock, mined for precious minerals, is mistakenly deflected from deep space and heading for Earth; it is dark, omnipotent and virtually unstoppable.

A handful of experts suspect it's missing Earth by some distance; their evidence is suppressed, but its presence is leaked on-line by PeoplePWR, an underground global group dedicated to free speech and whistleblowing.

A world in panic, a world preparing to die, Earth's global societies are breaking down, masses are committing suicide or being murdered in cold blood.

A tough, desperate crew of the last chance spacecraft, trying to deflect the rock, have unwittingly uncovered part of a secret which could unravel the real truth behind the global emergency.

A scientist, tenuously linked to the emergency, searches tirelessly for his lost love, who has been missing for ten long, cold years.

A group of young anarchists are determined to bring the remains of the world to its bloodied and broken knees.

A government sponsored assassin ruthlessly attempts to clean up the mess.

The future looks dire for most. But there is still hope for some.

In Britain, 30 underground sites make preparations to receive the tens of thousands of people chosen to build the new Utopian world. The largest, in the heart of a bleak and desolate Brecon Beacons, summons not only the elite of British society, but also ordinary men and women of all ages, colours and creeds.

All they have to do, is to get there safely.

These are the final two days of life on Earth and the travels of nine desperate individuals are intertwined in the ultimate race against time; a race through a world full of lawless destruction, death and depravity. A race which will test their survival skills and their stamina, of their cunning and guile, and of their physical and mental toughness.

A race that ultimately ends with the death of all living things left above the surface.

With a mass of unanswered questions about the emergency's validity ringing in their heads, and with a brutal, political power-play already taking place at the site, will it all be worth it?

What truly awaits them behind the huge foreboding blast doors of Subterranean Black?
