“Still Waiting,” Creative nonfiction writer, Janetra Johnson filed her federal lawsuit in 2009 and was one of the first persons on the scene of the California National Guards largest financial calamity.  She preserved a photographic view of its performance appraisal regulations and performance illusions between 1997 and 2014, in the case: Janetra Johnson v. Departments of the Army and Air Force et al.

The author includes an emotional account of her military sexual assault and how the language in the California National Guards performance appraisal policy provoked anger and conjured up financial theories of slavery and the Jim Crow era.  In the book, she captures the Jim Crow scenery from inside the California military department with a true story about the removal of its Jim Crow era barracks, segregated performance appraisal policy, outdated accounting system and a challenge to its 1950’s legal doctrine.

About the Author:

The author Janetra Johnson chronicled almost two decades of National Guard history from 1997 – 2014.   She uses her experiences from her personal and professional life, including her heartache to create a series of military books based on her real-life court case:  Janetra Johnson v. Departments of the Army and Air Force et al.  The books are written in the first person to give the reader a firsthand account of what the veteran had seen during the California National Guards largest financial disaster.  Johnson is a military veteran who served on active duty in the California National Guard and earned her Masters degree in Business Administration.  She lives in Fresno, California with her three children.
