‘Still Doing It’ is about a con, what is sometimes referred to as a ‘long con’. The book starts with the leader of the group of con artists looking for new recruits, and once she gathers a team of grifters, she starts working on the plan. It is an elaborate and daring plan, so much so it might seem foolhardy, but she defends the idea to her fellow con artists in such a way that they eventually believe it will work. The story takes readers through the preparation stages, with background details, and then moves on to the actual con – which does not turn out as planned. The leader of the group had an idea of how to ‘get away with the con’, but when circumstances change during the con she fears this will no longer work and has to re-think this part. Towards the end of the story the group think the con is over and want to celebrate, but the leader says it is not finished yet, there is one more thing that needs to happen before they can claim victory.
