It's an ancient tradition among the Christians, especially in Catholic and Anglican domains, to celebrate the Stations of the Cross, also Way of the Cross or simply The Cross especially in the Holy Week and Good Friday.

If You search in the internet for these terms (Google, Wikipedia etc.), You'll read that there are some differences within this celebrations. In this ebook a Stations of the Cross with 14 stations is shown. You'll see all the 14 pictures as shown in Zant and Ensdorf, separated from the masoned columns of the stations with the descriptions of the scenes in English, French and German.

In the early 1980s the pictures of the single stations columns were restored. The priest of Zant wanted a copy of the painted pictures within the Pilgrimage church but as driven light copper metal reliefs. This was elaborated by Hans-Georg Hierl, an artist in Ebermannsdorf. The priest from Ensdorf was so inspired about this, that he wanted the same for the coming restoration in Ensdorf. That's why both Stations of the Cross are completely identical, except the masoned columns. Previously the scenes were painted by different artists.

Zant and Ensdorf are about 15 km to the south of Amberg in the Oberpfalz a district of Bavaria in Germany (An easy map is included). The distance between Zant and Ensdorf is 15 km too (approx. 9 miles) and there is a direct slow speed road (partially not asphalted, but free for cars - busses too).
