The State of the Union is the annual address presented by the President of the United States to the United States Congress. The address not only reports on the condition of the nation but also allows presidents to outline their legislative agenda (for which they need the cooperation of Congress) and their national priorities. In this edition the State of Union Addresses by George Washington are presented in full for the years 1790-1796.

George Washington (February 22, 1732 – December 14, 1799) was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States, serving as the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He also presided over the Convention that drafted the Constitution, which replaced the Articles of Confederation. The Constitution established the position of President of the Republic, which title Washington was the first to hold.
