Souls for Carrion is the collection of three short stories: "Isn't Life Beautiful," "Cultish," and "Karen."
"Isn't Life Beautiful" follows a young man who is being tormented by a spirit of judgment. After his wife's death, he broke a taboo and entered into a relationship with a new woman. He and his new lover have been the victims of a car accident and find themselves in Purgatory where he must make an important decision with two lives in the balance.
"Cultish" is a story about a cybernetic future war veteran, Kyle Garner, who stumbles upon the results of a failed cult ritual. When the police come to investigate the disturbance, Kyle is caught at the wrong place at the wrong time. The police are not the only problem Kyle has to deal with as the dark energy of the ritual is still present and looking for a host.
"Karen" is an account from a recently deceased member of the intelligentsia. He finds himself on the river Styx where he meets Charon, the ferryman of the dead. He mistakes his name for Karen and proceeds to debate the ferryman on the concept of individual rights after death.
