Song of Silence

When Wraith enrolls in college hundreds of miles from his home town, he thinks he's left the stigma of his late girlfriend's mysterious death behind him. With encouragement from his best friend Heather, he meets a charismatic art major named Blair and tries to move on. But it's not long before Wraith notices her health seems to be deteriorating, and an obscure word sends him on a journey to discover what he is, and why he is a detriment to the ones he loves most.

"Every time I touch you..." his voice cracked. His dark eyes and stern lips rife with grief. "You die... Just a little". He reached out to trace her silhouette with a fingertip, reluctantly careful to avoid grazing her skin. Blair hung her head, reaching up to swipe a drop from rolling down her cheek. She harshly swallowed a breath, exhaling slowly before she glanced back up to him.
"And what if..." her voice was soft and sullen. Her chest heaving slightly as she swallowed down sobs. " I die just a little, every time you don't"
