Chip’s daily run takes him past a large, vacant, Spanish-style mansion on the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale−the “Venice of America.” His interior decorator instincts flare as he imagines living in the mansion with his lover Ariel. Image the pleasure when he first meets Darius, the seductive owner of the property, then is requested to provide guidance on landscaping the expansive grounds and given a tour of the premises. As recompense for his efforts, Chip and Ariel are invited to dinner.
Ariel is immediately as entranced by Darius as is Chip and the couple enthusiastically accept an invitation to a larger affair at the mansion−a Midsummer's Eve celebration. Wine spiked with hallucinogenic herbs, a mysteriously appearing yacht, skimpily clad dancing youths, and the transformation of Darius into something supernatural threaten the two young men’s sanity.
A subsequent invitation to a private dinner places Chip and Ariel in danger of being ensnared in Darius’ dark clutches. Any hope of rescue rests with Chip and his ability to perceive reality through the shadowy fog of Darius’ psychedelic manifestations.
