Smellville is the first installment of a series entitled "How I spent my Summer Vacation," as related by the brothers Rodney and Daniel Baugh and chronicled by the poet, Mel Carriere. In this installment, Rodney and Daniel's miserly Father has sentenced the Baugh family to two weeks of hell at a resort that apparently has never been blessed with the visit of a Health Department Inspector. Teaming up with a young girl that resides at the resort, the Brothers Baugh discover that the once pristine community of Smellville and its immediate environs have been put under the curse of the evil witch Erithea. With nothing better to do to pass the time at the filthy, festering, putrid locale, the three of them join forces and undertake a long journey to discover the source of the spell and put an end to it. In so doing, they come face to face with the evil Erithea, and also find themselves rescuing a beautiful princess, a noble act which no worthy fairy tale should be without. While engaged in this endeavor, the noble brothers discover the hidden courage within themselves, and also learn how to medicate the hideous boils that arise upon their skin when they go for a swim in foul water. There is something for everyone in Smellville, including adventure, romance, and important facts about personal hygiene. It is the first part of an ongoing, six part saga that chronicles how the brothers discover the truth about their origin, and also help to save the world from an evil, insidious entity that seeks to enslave the human race.
