This is the story of my journey to Russia, beginning in 1995 and ending in 2010. It is viewed through the lens of Shamanic tradition. Within this context, I was taken through a period of preparation which culminated with a series of initiations into fire.
The journey introduced two ancient prophecies. The first was from Edgar Cayce, and the second, based on an old legend, was written by Helena and Nicholas Roerich.
“Sisters of the Golden Mountain will speak in the west. Sisters of the Altai will speak in Asia.” “Better than others, the woman knows the element fire, that element which is bound the nearest future.” (The Roerichs. Agni Yoga Museum, New York.)
These prophecies became constants as the lessons about fire unfolded.
Preparation began in the Altai, bringing a profound connection to the land and to spirit, ultimately achieving balance. In 2000 we collaborated with Perm organizers and held our first family camp. The camp was struck by lightening and all in camp began to “heat up.” We had been placed in fire’s workshop.
A year later camp participants made masks. As described by Lynn Andrews, this unique process stimulates the arousal of inner fire. The third camp and initiation culminated in a phenomenon called the fiery baptism, or simply the opening of one’s heart. It would also later enhance deeper connection to the land and Old Ones.
With the fifth camp I got to view an old Shaman’s sword. The lesson of the sword was that fire could move you to action. Fire can also propel us towards our destined paths.
2010, a full decade of family camps later, brought me full circle back to the location of the first camp. Indeed we had come full circle, now alive with fire and armed with a new story.
Will Russia achieve her destiny? I hope so. We each possess a spark within that enlivens our souls. We can all become the “warrior” and together build a much needed new paradigm – a new story for a new time.
