"Short Stories depict the life of the middle and lower-middle class Afro-Asian societies with focus on some hitherto untouched aspects, in the range of my vision. For a man is a man irrespective of his caste, colour, creed or country: a suffering, a suffering to whoever it affects. Tolerance-testing anti-social activities, diminishing moral values, compartmentalisation of society, vicious villainy,.....have grieved me like the all other penmen. It is the moral duty of a writer to aspire and work for a better and free environment, with no strings attached. The characters of a work arent the writer but a part of him/her. We cant disown them. They help in unfoldment of our inner-self in the desired way. It is for the reader to decipher and read between lines to discern the intended message. He has become too wise to need explaining. Keeping this in mind, I have found solace in simplicity and brevity.
This book is written by S.K.Trivedi (b. Nov 30, 1940), a renowned Indian literateur, a widely travelled, highly qualified, greatly experienced and well-read writer. His teaching assignments took him to Somalia and Ethiopia, where he took time to make a tour of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania also. This enabled him to write a lot on the African life and experience. He has successfully tried his hand on almost every genre of literature--poetry, stories, novels, essays, memoirs, current affairs, etc. A staunch Gandhian Mr.Trivedis vision is catholic, cosmopolitan, global and humanitarian. Many research scholars are working for doctoral theses on his life and work."
